Who is Yemi Alade?

I’m an ” Afro high-life Pop and RnB” songwriter,songstress and performer signed to Effyzzie Music Group. I am sometimes referred to as that ;yoruba Igbo girl’ as my mum is a native of Abia state while my dad is a native of Ondo state.

How did you get started in Music?

I used to be the lead vocalist of a girl group when I was in Secondary School but music started for me professionally  at the age of 12 as the only kid Chorister in my church’s adult choir.

Who is your biggest Musical Inspiration?

hmmm Fela..his music is based on so much truth and originality.

What inspired your single ‘Johnny’ ?

It all happened when we made a stop at Abuja  during my Nation Wide Media Tour and an on-air personality  inspired me to record a song with my ex’s name….that’s how “johnny” was born. Loll! Johnny is based on True Life Story.

Tell us about the making of The Video?

‘Johnny’ was directed by Clarence Peters starring Alex Ekubo, Beverly Osu ,Addiction, Saeon and Bovi. It was shot in exactly 7hrs in the rural area of Ogun state….unbelievable right?! Loll but don’t get it twisted all the planning and strategies from costumes to hair to story line took months.

What is your Favourite Process in bringing your Music to Life?

The studio is where all the magic happens. When the rhythm and melody from the producer is perfect I pick a title and story line. I am quite a  story teller. Loll!.

What Genre of music do you Like and why?

I totally love ‘Afro..pop, Rnb and High-life’….its my genre. I feel this  genre allows me to be Myself. It allows me to be original and connect with my listeners.

Your Favourite Songs on your Playlist?

Beyonce -grown woman, Etta James -atlast.

Those who haven’t heard your music, explain your sound?

My sound is based on emotions and experiences that are both mine and  others. The sole purpose of my Music is to reach out and connect to my listeners on every level.

Describe your Fashion Style?

My Fashion style is ‘Chic, Classy, Edgy and African’ . I am thankful to Styled By Bie (my Glam team) for  understanding my Fashion style .

One thing you cannot leave your House without?

My shades.

Up coming Shows, Singles or Albums we should look out for?

My much awaited  Debut single is titled #KingOfQueens and I intend to release one more single and several other videos. I should be headlining several major shows this year…be on the look out hun!!.
